Cinema at Artrix

Summer blockbusters set for Bromsgrove’s big screen.

The Artrix arts centre is not only renown for live events, it’s also home to Bromsgrove’s only cinema. Screening the latest family blockbusters and musicals alongside award-winning dramas and foreign language films, Artrix Cinema has something for every film fan.

As well as screening many of the latest feature films and more unusual offerings, tickets are a snip at just £7 for standard tickets, £6 for concessions and £5 for tickets to family film screenings.

This season’s family films at Artrix include, animated films Sherlock Gnomes on 26th, 28th, 30th July and 2nd August, Incredibles 2 from 13th to 16th August and Thomas & Friends. Big World! Big Adventures! on 14th and 15th August.

Escape to a Greek island (bring your sequin flares and best singing voice!) for a week of screenings of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again from 3rd to 11th August. Other Hollywood blockbusters include the thirtieth anniversary re-release of the 80s classic, Heathers on 3rd and 4th September, followed by The Escape starring Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper on 7th and 10th September.

This summer’s foreign language films include French films Let The Sunshine In, starring Juliette Binoche from 25th to 27th July and erotic thriller L’Amant Double on 30th and 31st July, followed by German film In The Fade, starring Diane Kruger on 1st and 2nd August and Icelandic film Under The Tree on 15th and 16th August, all with English subtitles.

Artrix also screens many live theatre, music and dance events from a whole host of international art establishments, including Romeo & Juliet: RSC Live from Stratford Upon Avon, on 18th July. Other highlights of the season include NT:Live Julie on 6th September, RSC: Merry Wives of Windsor on 12th September, La Boheme on Sydney Harbour on 13th September, The Australian Ballet: The Merry Widow on 24th September, NT Live: King Lear on 27th September and Royal Opera House Live presents Mayerling on 15th October.

Fans of classical music can enjoy pre-recorded screenings of Andre Rieu’s 2018 Maastricht Concert on 28th July and star tenor Jonas Kaufmann’s concert Under The Stars on 5th September and celebrating 60 years in the pop industry, Cliff Richard Live: 60th Anniversary Tour screens at Artrix on 12th October. (Concert screenings and LIVE screened events are priced individually.)

Artrix Cinema takes place in the arts centre’s 300 seat Main Auditorium. Audiences can expect a relaxing cinema experience in the comfort of the accessible, theatre style raked seating, along with the luxury of a pre-show bar with reasonably priced snacks and beverages available.
