£10,000 raised for cancer charity

Breast cancer service benefits from community group fundraising.

Hundreds of people across the West Midlands made a brew for breast cancer during March to support Breast Cancer Haven’s signature The Big Tea Cosy fundraising campaign. Over 40 tea parties were held at libraries, schools, ‘Knit and Natter’ groups and at individuals homes across the region, raising over £10,000 for Breast Cancer Haven, West Midlands in the process.

Staff at APM, HSBC and Santander were also busy baking for their Big Tea Cosy events, which were held at branches across the West Midlands.

Amanda Elliott, BCH West Midlands Fundraising Manager says: “The Big Tea Cosy campaign has been a huge success and we’re thrilled to have had so many individuals, groups and companies showing their support. We look forward to more tea parties and beating this year’s total next year.”

The Big Tea Cosy will be back in 2019 and the charity is hoping for even more bakers to support the campaign, so look out for a Big Tea Cosy pack and get your very own par-tea started next year.

Breast Cancer Haven is also due to open their Evelyn H Lauder garden to the public for their first summer Garden Party on Sunday 24 June on St Bernard’s Road, Olton. All are welcome to come and enjoy live music, prosecco, BBQ and garden stalls, entry is just £2 for adults and children go free.
