Andy Munro on Blues’ defeat at Bristol City.
Let’s hope that the bubble hasn’t burst, Steve Cotterill style. Luckily it wasn’t a complete disaster as other results went our way but with a hungry pack of Wolves lying in wait and with a final game against our survival nemesis Fulham, it’s going to be tight.
Certainly, we are missing Adams with only the erratic Boga currently available to support the reinvigorated Jutkiewicz. The only other option being to move Jota into the’hole’ when he’s at last playing an influential role out wide. Let’s hope Gallagher comes back into the equation, fitness permitting, as it needs to be all hands to the pump and that includes the loanees.
As regards the actual match, to have 18 shots against the opposition 11 shots and yet to lose 3-1 could almost be termed criminal negligence. However, at least Gary Monk’s style of football is pleasing on the eye and creates plenty of chances.
At the same time, the defence is a concern now they’ve shipped four goals in two games after an admittedly decent run of clean sheets. The experienced defenders and defensive midfielders need to take a look at themselves as Bristol City haven’t exactly got an embarrassment of riches in an attacking sense.
Still, it must be onwards and upwards. It’s the only way!
