Lunar Festival and Brum Radio launch initiative for Midlands music students.
Music students from across the Midlands are being offered the chance to join the 2018 Lunar Festival line-up alongside headliners Amadou & Mariam, Basement Jaxx, Goldfrapp and The Stranglers thanks to a new initiative led by Brum Radio.
The Warwickshire festival, celebrating its fifth birthday this year, has teamed up with the Birmingham-based independent radio station to offer music students of all ages the chance to apply to perform on the Brum Radio New Breed stage brand new to this year’s event.
All entrants must be able to demonstrate that a minimum of 50% of their act is in full-time music education. Entries must be made via email to apply@lunarfestival.co.uk with a link to the applicant’s music and a 50-word biography, by 5 pm on Friday 15th June 2018.
Pete Steel, Head of Music, Brum Radio, said, “We are delighted to be working with Lunar Festival to provide a platform for future talent from Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. We will offer each chosen act exposure through live sessions and interviews on Brum Radio leading up to the festival and pre and post-performance interviews that will be broadcast during and after the weekend. Post Lunar Festival, Brum Radio will continue to build supportive and lasting relationships with the successful acts, helping them to develop and play an important role in the Birmingham music scene and beyond”.
Brum Radio is Birmingham’s independent radio station broadcasting 24/7 online with a mix of music, arts and conversation. Brum Radio offers a fresh approach to radio, with an established presenter line-up of DJs, comedians, raconteurs, promoters, local voices and musicians.
