ACM student Cyreez Lewis performs alongside Justin Timberlake at BRIT Awards.
The Academy of Contemporary Music was delighted to see its student and first ever recipient of the Skunk Anansie Scholarship, Cyreez Lewis, perform alongside Justin Timberlake at this year’s iconic BRIT Awards. ACM was also proud of its many alumni recognised for their hard-work and dedication to the music industry through the nominations and winners at this year’s awards.
Alongside nominated alumnus Ed Sheeran, ACM was ecstatic to see Clean Bandit who features alumna Kirsten Joy as a live vocalist nominated for best music video and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man who was developed by alumnus Mark Crew, founder of production label Best Laid Plan, pick up the award for best British Single. Alumnus Ben Thomas was also seen performing drums for Rag ‘N’ Bone man at his 2018 BRITs performance.
Alongside the outstanding success of ACM graduates at this year’s BRIT Awards, ACM’s sister company Metropolis Studios also made a great impact with; Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Gorillaz, Jessie Ware, The xx, J Hus, The Killers, Jax Jones ft. RAYE and Anne-Marie’s work all being mastered at the powerhouse studio, alongside Rag’n’Bone Man, Paloma Faith and Loyle Carner having been mixed there. Grammy Award winning Metropolis engineer Liam Nolan also saw success for his work on Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larsson’s Symphony, which was also mastered at the legendary studio.
ACM prides itself on supporting talent in all corners of the creative industries. As a microcosm of the music business, its students can not only be seen on stage, but behind the scenes in the studio and boardrooms too – all as innovators making their mark on the creative industries as we know them.
For every student or alumni that sees success on the stage there are many more making decisions behind the scenes. With a learning by doing ethos and more studio space on offer than any other provider in Europe, students at ACM can fast-track their careers in the creative industries with the guidance of world-class tutors at its Guildford, London and Birmingham campuses. With direct links to Metropolis Studios (Europe’s largest recording facility), ACM students are given exclusive access to the creative industries from the moment they start their studies at the institution.
