Music, comedy and family fun in Bromsgrove.
Artrix Arts Centre in Bromsgrove has announced a new programme of work for Winter 2017/18, filled with well known comedians, fabulous music, family theatre and an outstanding cinema programme.
This December, along with many festive theatrical treats for families and party nights out with friends, Artrix is pleased to present a Festival of Light Parade, in conjunction with
Bromsgrove District Council on Sunday 17th December. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the festive spectacle and participate in lantern making workshops prior to the event.
Following on from a successful Autumn Season of music, Cara Dillon returns to Artrix on 7th December with her hauntingly beautiful vocals, Upon A Winter’s Night. As always, audiences can enjoy a wide range of cinema experiences at Artrix this season, including New Year family showing of the long-awaited sequel, Paddington 2 on 3rd & 5th January and a fantastic programme of live screenings of theatre, ballet and opera including The Winter’s Tale: Royal Ballet Live on 28th February.
Maintaining a reputation as the go-to venue for comedy in the region, Artrix presents another stand-out season of stand-up, beginning with an evening of laughs with Simpsons super-fan, Yianni Agisilaou on 8th December. Other big names comedy acts include a return from the popular Phil Wang (cover pic) on 24th February, Barbara Nice & Shazia Mirza on 8th March and Hardeep Singh Kohli on 17th March.
There are family shows aplenty, beginning with a December that’s full of festive treats including Santa In Love on 2nd December, Haroun & The Sea of Stories on 13th December and The Abominable Snowman on 27th December. In the New Year, youngsters can enjoy a theatre trip to see Mirror Mirror by Red Earth Theatre on 4th February, a stage adaptation of the much-loved book Monstersaurus! on 22nd February and Easter Bunny’s Eggs Factor on 2nd April.
Theatrical highlights this Winter include a musical adaptation of the life of Jane Austen, Austen The Musical on 8th February. Famous faces to grace the Main Stage at Artrix will include an evening with Germaine Greer on 1st February and anecdotes from the ‘Professor of Pop’ Paul Gambacinni on 11th April.
Artrix continues to present a wide range of exhibitions and workshops for all to enjoy, including Family Yoga on 4th February.
