Train company strengthens sporting community links.
London Midland has extended its partnership with the Albion Foundation, the community arm of Premier League club West Bromwich Albion.
The train operator has been an official partner of the Foundation for the last six months and has supported the organisation with a number of events including the Albion Foundation Day and the Blind Dave Colour Run. This partnership has now been extended and the additional London Midland funding will now support West Bromwich Albion’s Women and Girls football teams as well as the West Bromwich Albion basketball teams.
The Albion Foundation plays an integral role in the local community, focusing on the areas of education and development, sports development and disability sports. The Foundation works closely with young people, helping children back into mainstream education or finding alternative paths into employment. Its work with schools also extends to sports development, delivering P.E. lessons and CPD for teaching staff.
There are currently 26 West Bromwich Albion disability sports teams including powerchair and blind football, whose profile the Albion Foundation works to raise in the local community. The renewed partnership will allow the Foundation to carry on its work within the wider local community.
Commenting on the partnership, London Midland’s commercial director, Richard Brooks, said: “By working with the Albion Foundation, we have a great opportunity to support our local communities through the work they do. There is a real enthusiasm across the business for the Foundation’s work and the continued partnership means that even more people can get involved and show that they care.”
“Getting closer to the communities we serve is a central goal of our business and the Albion Foundation serves as an excellent example of a large organisation making a real difference. We are extremely proud to be a partner and look forward to working with them over the coming months.”
Jonathan Ward, sports development and sponsorship officer at the Albion Foundation, added: “We are extremely pleased to have extended our partnership with London Midland. This partnership will enable us to continue to make a difference within our local community and schools and will give the respective teams supported by the organisation their own identity. London Midland is a fantastic organisation which we are delighted to be associated with.”
