Chocival back for sweet second year

Eat, drink and get covered in the stuff.

Birmingham’s first chocolate festival, Chocival, is back at Brindleyplace for a sweet second year on Saturday 21st October, with plenty of cocoa-based treats and a chocolate gunge tank in aid of Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice.

Taking place in Central Square at Brindleyplace between 11am and 6pm, Chocival will be choc-a-block with stalls selling a range of indulgent and unusual chocolate products as well as entertainment, demonstrations and live music.

Nathan Sanghera, Marketing and Events Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “The first ever Chocival was a huge hit, with the city’s chocaholics visiting Brindleyplace in their thousands, and this year is set to be even better with more stalls and live chocolate demonstrations.

“Working with one of our charity partners, Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice, we’re also giving people the chance to get their own back on their boss (or colleague) with our chocolate gunge tank. Some of Birmingham’s biggest business names have already been nominated to get gunged, so this won’t be one to miss – just try not to get caught in the splash zone!”

Charlotte Anson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice, said: “Chocolate is the ultimate comfort food or treat and we’re thrilled to be the Brindleyplace Chocival charity partner this year. Our work, raising money to care for local families living with terminal illness, is critical to many people in the city, so if we can do it while satisfying our sweet tooth and making people smile, all the better!

“To kick start the weekend, we’ll be gunging your bosses then between 11am and 3pm on Saturday our chocolate gunge tank will be open to the public so you can gunge your friends and family too! It’s a lot of fun and just £25 to sign someone up in advance and if you raise £100 you’ll even be able to pull the lever! Every penny raised will help us provide end of life care across Birmingham.”
