Networking event to place emphasis on public sector investment.
he next free breakfast event for FinditinWorcestershire, a national procurement portal linking local SMEs with large companies and local authorities, is taking place on Tuesday 19th September.
Taking place at Sixways Stadium, Worcester from 6.45am until 9.30am, the meeting is a public procurement special and attendees can ‘Meet the Public Sector Buyer’ with Worcestershire County Council, the district councils, Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Place Partnership Ltd and West Mercia Police.
Worcestershire County Council oversees approximately £900 million of public expenditure a year, of which £1 million each day provides services to residents in the county. Around 60% is spent on caring for adults and children.
The County Council knows how important it is to support the local economy by engaging the services of local businesses. This event will help Worcestershire County Council’s buyers and commissioners in charge of forthcoming social care contracts to meet with the local supply chain to provide valuable contract opportunities.
In addition, attendees will hear presentations about the council’s approach to commissioning across its spectrum of public sector services, as well as hearing from Place Partnership Ltd, the company that manages the County Council’s property function and is owned by six founding partner organisations. All companies are interested in looking for local companies to work with from the event.
Lorna Jeynes, from Worcestershire County Council, comments: “We felt it was time to host an event to discuss supply chain opportunities with the councils and other local public sector organisations.
“Attendees can come and meet with our commissioners to understand how to tender for work and hear about any upcoming opportunities. We want to try and keep contracts within Worcestershire to drive the local economy forward and we hope this event will help to do that.”
FinditinWorcestershire aims to bring together contractors and suppliers to provide supply chain opportunities to the local economy. With over 8,000 members on its website and growing daily, it currently has over 178 live contract opportunities on its website, with a total value of £5,332,000,000*.
