Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice’s Enchanted Midsummer Walk returns for its second year.
Performers on stilts, magicians, jugglers, fire breathers, aerial performers and even a saxophonist will take walkers on a magical journey through the city at the Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice Enchanted Midsummer Walk on Saturday 24th June. The event aims to raise more than £23,000 through registration and sponsorship and forms part of the Hospice’s diverse schedule of fundraising events in 2017.
Perfect for friends, families and colleagues the 10km round trip starting at King Edward VI School for Girls will take walkers on a leisurely tour through leafy Edgbaston, Harborne and Selly Oak. Halfway along the route participants will have the chance to pause, reflect and light a candle for lost loved ones at the Hospice.
Once past the finish line walkers will be rewarded with a glass of Bucks Fizz and a medal to mark their achievement before treating themselves from street food vendors and indulging in enchanted cocktails and mocktails from the onsite cocktail bar.
Lucy Watkins, Events Manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We’re so excited to welcome back our Enchanted Midsummer Walk for 2017. Following last year’s success we’re hoping to attract even more walkers this year for an evening of enchantment and intrigue.
“Code Red Entertainment will be joining us again to create a magical evening from start to finish plus some new exciting event activities. We hope that lots of people register to join us and raise vital funds for the hospice.”
Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice provides support to over 1,200 individuals and their families, carers and loved ones each year, costing £8million. This level of care is made possible by the backing of the public with over half of the running costs coming from voluntary incomes.
Registration is now open to take part in the walk, where individuals or teams can begin raising sponsorship before the evening itself. To register or find out more information about walk, or other events on Birmingham St Mary’s jam packed 2017 calendar, click here.
