Wrestling with the Institute

International wrestling to hit city venue.

The all-action, no-holds-barred wrestling extravaganza ICW will be bringing its acclaimed riotous ring action to O2 Institute Birmingham on Saturday 15th April. Expect to see wild antics and monumental smackdown theatrics as the wrestlers look to make a final statement before the before the big Barramania showdown at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom. Talent confirmed includes; Drew Galloway, Joe Hendry, Wolfgang, Jack Jester and American juggernaut tag team War Machine.

Still recovering from their ten-year anniversary tour in 2016, which decimated countless cities across the UK, where bars were broken, chairs flung and ambulances called, but, most importantly, wrestling fans nationwide got exactly what they came for. Sometimes dirty and not for the faint-hearted, ICW packs more than a punch; it’s an assault on all the senses – you will be scared, you will laugh, you might even cry – but you WON’T go home feeling like you’ve been fooled because this is UK wrestling at its very best.

ICW was launched in 2006 by life-long wrestling fan Mark Dallas. Starting with a handful of events at Maryhill Community Central Halls in Glasgow, ICW quickly gained momentum in Scotland and caught the attention of the nation when VICE captured the story of one of the brand’s most popular wrestlers Grado in 2012 with The British Wrestler. More heads began to turn when the BBC filmed the first of two critically acclaimed documentaries on ICW with Insane Fight Club in 2013.

The first UK tour launched in 2014 with shows in major cities along with a string of Edinburgh Fringe dates, and the meteoric rise continued in 2015 with two more UK tours, and was followed by the three-part ten-year anniversary tour in 2016. ICW is gritty, real, less patronising and ultimately, more extreme. Anything could happen!
