Open day at Custard Factory.
This Saturday 21st January BIMM (The British & Irish Modern Music Institute), will be hosting an Introductory Open Day for BIMM Birmingham – the latest addition to its ever-expanding group.
Work has already begun on the £4 million state-of-the-art music college, which will open its doors to students this October 2017 on Floodgate Street in Digbeth.
The BIMM Birmingham Open Day will take place at The Custard Factory on Gibb Street at 12 noon. It will feature an afternoon of live music from BIMM bands; presentations; and guest speakers who’ll be talking about all things BIMM, including plans for the new building in the heart of Digbeth – the creative hub of the Midlands.
There will be opportunities for potential students and their families to learn more about the courses and BIMM’s philosophy. Tutors will also be available to answer questions on how studying at BIMM Birmingham can help you forge a career in the music industry.
BIMM is the largest and leading music education specialist in Europe, which is continually expanding. BIMM Birmingham will be the latest addition to colleges in Brighton, London, Manchester, Bristol, Dublin and Berlin. This new college will employ 50+ local music professionals, who’ll be guiding and inspiring students from their years of experience in the music industry.
Dara Kilkenny takes on the role of Executive Principal for BIMM Birmingham (in addition to BIMM Manchester and BIMM Dublin) and will be addressing the invited audience and answering questions. “It made total sense for BIMM to have a college in the UK’s fastest growing music city. It has been my privilege to have helped many creative individuals embark on their careers at BIMM Manchester and BIMM Dublin, so I’m looking forward to doing the same in Birmingham!”
BIMM Birmingham will offer degree courses in the following: BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship – Drums, Bass, Guitar, Vocals and Songwriting. There will also be BA (Hons) degree courses in Music Production and Music Business. These courses will be validated by the University of Sussex, who are in the top 1% of global universities and ranked in the top 20 of UK universities.
As with BIMM’s other six colleges, the new students will attend Masterclasses and industry events – giving them unparalleled access to an array of notable music industry movers and shakers. Past guests include: BIMM patron, Roger Daltrey, Laura Mvula, Guy Garvey (Elbow), The Edge (U2), Ed O’Brien (Radiohead), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Hozier, as well as Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis and Creation Records founder, Alan McGee.
