New boys shine for Albion

Terry Wills on a significant friendly at the Hawthorns.

What’s new? Rumours, speculation, denials, (mainly surrounding Tony Pulis) but among this there was some good news depending on one’s point of view.

Baggies versus Indian Super League Delhi Dynamo; a 1-0 win and the first opportunity to cast an eye on two of the new permanent signings, Nacer Chadli and Alan Nymo, plus loanee Brendan Galloway and surprising trialistss Momo.Sissoko and Marouans Chamakh.

Chadli delighted with his creative talents, and is definitely the type of player we’ve been missing for far too long. Nymo, full of energy, will chase anything and is certain to challenge Craig Dawson for the right back slot.
.
As for the problem left back saga, Brendan Galloway was a breath of fresh air, ever-ready to overlap and cause problems. Welcome Brendan. Champakh’s injury hoodoo struck again and i cannot envisage him being offered a contract.

Not so Sissoko. Tenacious in midfield, he looks to add desperately needed striking power. Sign him now Tony. And let’s not forget the youngsters who were mainly unknown teenagers. What a debut for James Smith, slotting home the winning goal. Here’s a striker who knows where the net is.

We’re back to Greed League action this week, visiting sunny Bournemouth in a game that even at this early stage could eventually turn out to be significant. A positive result and we maintain our points advantage. A defeat will see them level on points.

Again there are so many uncertainties that make forecasting tricky so I’ll stick to the most likely scenario – a share of the points.
