Balsall Common pub food helps charity.
The White Horse pub and restaurant in Balsall Common has presented The Lily Mae Foundation with £500 – the amount raised through donations from the sales of its hugely popular lasagne which returned to the menu in March.
The ‘original’ White Horse Lasagne was put back on the a la carte menu six months ago following numerous requests for the dish and the contemporary pub on the Kenilworth Road decided to support a great cause at the same time by donating 50p from every order to the charity which supports parents and families that have been affected by the loss of a baby due to Stillbirth or Neonatal Death.
Chris Kelly, owner of The White Horse said: “We’ve sold 920 lasagnes since starting our fundraising so rounded the £460 up to £500. We’re hoping to at least match this over the rest of our year long commitment – and we are, of course, keeping the ‘bestselling’ dish on our new Autumn/Winter menu.”
Amy Jackson, Co-Founder of the Balsall Common-based Lily Mae Foundation said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount. Totally amazing! This figure will enable us to create 10 memory boxes which we provide to help families cope with the loss of a baby. We hope diners continue to enjoy the dish – a real comfort food – throughout the colder months ahead.”
