The Robin rocks on

There’s always something worth visiting Bilston for.

Big name shows by Paul Carrack (Saturday 9th) and Martin Kemp (Wednesday 13th) may be returns only, but there are other quality acts coming to the Robin 2 in the next couple of weeks.

Eve Selis is returning to the UK after the release of her first studio album for five years. Produced by Grammy-winner Kenny Greenberg, See Me With Your Heart captures the acclaimed country rock singer showing a softer side to her work, reflecting the time spent recuperating from a rollerblading accident that led to six months of rehabilitation. She plays the Robin on Thursday 14th July. (Front page pic – DennisAndersenPhotography)

The David Cross Band will be making their Robin debut on Sunday 17th. David was an integral part of King Crimson during their mid-seventies commercial and artistic peak and the evening will feature extensively from the back catalogue of this band and also that of Van der Graaf Generator, whose sax player Dave Jackson is part of David’s line-up.

Tickets £15

From closer to home is Wolverhampton-based guitarist Pete Kent, who will be returning to the venue on Tuesday 19th. His unique style of fingerpicking acoustic has made Pete a favourite amongst his fellow musicians and his second album, The Hidden Hand, was released in May.

Tickets £7

The Robin is also currently promoting two charity events. Sunday 10th July sees a memorial concert for Chelsea Jackson, who died recently of the rare illness Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. Featuring a host of local bands and headlined by Bad Flowers, the evening is aiming to raise funds for a memorial and also to raise awareness of the disease. On the door tickets are £7.

In addition, the Robin have also launched the 2016 Fudgestock charity auction, with music memorabilia available and proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
