525,600 reasons to see Rent the Musical

Old Rep production opens next week.

You don’t have to wait 525,600 minutes to see the smash hit musical Rent in Birmingham. In fact, this brand new production premieres at The Old Rep next week.

After performing at this year‘s Pride Birmingham, Michael Neri presents Rent the Musical at The Old Rep from Tuesday 26th–Saturday 30th July. 2016 is a particularly exciting time for the rock musical, as Rent celebrates its 20th anniversary. This brand new production has been created entirely in Birmingham and hosts an impressive cast of local professional actors, including Sutton Coldfield’s Timothy Gough as Roger.

Jonathan Larson’s adaptation of Puccini’s opera La Bohème adds a twist of exuberant East Village rock, resulting in Rent’s stirring and life-affirming score. RENT captures the heart and spirit of a generation of struggling artists, addicts, and impoverished young people living in the shadow of AIDS, battling the coming wave of gentrification. A critically acclaimed and well-loved musical, Rent has received the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pullitzer Prize for Drama. Also, having given over 5,000 performances, RENT is the seventh longest running Broadway show in history.
