Brazil arrives in Birmingham

Carnival parade heralds new restaurant.

Birmingham got a taste of Brazil on Tuesday with a Rio-style carnival parade across the city centre as award-winning restaurant chain, Viva Brazil, prepares to open its doors on Bennetts Hill this Friday, 20th May.

Samba dancers made their way across Colmore Business District, accompanied by a traditional Brazilian band, entertaining commuters on their way into work.

Founder and managing director of the Viva Brazil restaurant chain, Andy Aldrich, said: “We wanted to make some noise, and bring the fun and flavour of Brazil to Birmingham, and that’s exactly what we did this morning. The sunshine definitely helped everyone get into the carnival spirit and we had commuters practicing their samba moves on the way to work.”

Viva Brazil opens in a grade II listed building on Bennetts Hill this Friday, following a dramatic transformation into an authentic Brazilian steak house complete with an open barbecue grill and luxury bar. The restaurant will be set across two floors, each with its own unique style and décor.

Viva Brazil first opened in Liverpool in September 2010. Following its tremendous success, restaurants have since launched in Glasgow and Cardiff. The chain opened a further site in Newcastle last summer, with Birmingham becoming its fifth location.
