Quality music coming up at Bromsgrove arts centre.
Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, who are due to perform at Artrix on 20th April, are hoping that their nomination at this year’s upcoming Radio 2 Folk Awards will win them the coveted accolade of Best Duo.
As the eldest of the three Lakeman Brothers, Sean has played the guitar since the age of six. Having travelled the world for a decade with Equation, he then famously went on to produce his little brother Seth’s album which became a top ten hit. Following a successful duo career with fellow Barnsleyite Kate Rusby, Kathryn joined Equation and she and Sean have been together ever since.
Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman will be performing at Artrix on Wednesday 20th April. Tickets cost £15.00
Starting out as a duo, long-time friends Jimmy Hunter and Will Irvine ended up at Newcastle University. They spent most of the next three years writing songs before heading to London in 2012 . Hunter and the Bear then became a quartet and rehearsed in a soundproofed shipping container in a car park before being chosen to support Eric Clapton in summer 2014.
The band has recently finished its first headline tour to wide acclaim. Their love of classic rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Band shines though in their songwriting and performances – a powerful blend of folk, rock and country. Audiences at their Artrix show on 22nd April can expect to hear some strong vocal harmonies and great guitar playing – this band is going places.
Hunter and the Bear will be performing at Artrix on Friday 22nd April. Tickets cost £12.00
