Lord Mayor guest for Press Club’s anniversary lunch

150th birthday for world’s oldest.

Birmingham Press Club’s annual Christmas Lunch this year coincides with a momentous occasion in the club’s history – the actual date on which it was founded 150 years ago.

To mark the anniversary, the lunch will be held at the ICC, Birmingham’s premier city centre events venue, on 16th December when Councillor Raymond Hassall (pictured) the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, will be among the guests.

This year also marks a special anniversary for the Lord Mayor – serving continuously as a member of Birmingham City Council for a quarter of a century.

Councillor Hassall said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to attend such a memorable occasion in the history of the Press Club and I am particularly delighted that the Club has chosen the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal to benefit from the proceeds of the prize draw which will be held at the luncheon.”

Press Club chairman Ed James added: “This year our Christmas lunch marks a very significant milestone in the Club’s history and we are particularly delighted that Birmingham’s leading citizen will be amongst the guests.”

The charities to benefit from the Lord Mayor’s Appeal are Cancer Research UK. Fisher House, the MS Society and Birmingham Trees for Life.

Individual tickets for the three-course lunch, which will follow a welcoming drinks reception at 12 noon, are priced at £48.50 + VAT (a total of £58.20). Tables of ten may be booked at a rate of £485 + VAT (£582). To reserve your place log on to www.birmingham-press-club.co.uk and click on Events.
