New appointment for arts centre

Dance worker to provide opportunitiers at Artrix.

Artrix Arts Centre in Bromsgrove has recently appointed Fiona Hay as its new Dance Engagement Worker. The post is the result of an ongoing partnership between Artrix and Worcester-based Dancefest and means there is a clear focus for developing dance opportunities for children, young people and families who live in and around North Worcestershire.

Fiona has been a Herefordshire and Worcestershire dance worker for the last seven years and has worked alongside organisations such as 2Faced Dance and Dancefest.

Despite having been in post for just a short time, Fiona has already arranged some exciting participation opportunities for young people. To coincide with 2Faced Dance bringing their show Dreaming in Code to Artrix on November 20th, youngsters from South Bromsgrove High School will be joining a two day residency to prepare a curtain raiser performance before the main show. Heart of Worcestershire College Performing Arts students will also take part in a day’s workshop led by professional dancers from the company.

Fiona says “Our aim is to provide exciting contemporary dance opportunities for both schools and the community groups in North Worcestershire which will engage children and young people in watching and taking part in dance activities in Artrix Arts Centre and across the area.”
