Happening at Artrix

Theatre, music and comedy are on offer at the Artrix Arts Centre.

Still the world’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll musical, the sensational Rocky Horror Show is hailed by audiences and critics alike as one of the best shows ever. Who can forget Frank’n’furter, Sweet Transvestite or Dammit Jammit? Richard O’Brien returns to the cast for the first time in more than twenty years for Rocky Horror Show Live! to be screened live at Artrix on 17th September.

Rocky Horror Show Live! is screening at Artrix on Thursday 17th September at 6.45 pm. Tickets cost £15.00

Andy Fairweather Low’s story looks like the perfect example of how to become a legend. He first came to prominence as the lead singer in Amen Corner. The 60s saw them clock up hit after pop hit and since then, Andy has gone on to work with a huge range of musicians including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Roger Waters, Joe Cocker and Steve Winwood, and hundreds more.

Andy Fairweather Low and The Low Riders are performing at Artrix on Sunday 20th September at 7.30 pm.

With the autumn nights getting chilly, there’s no better way to warm up than a good laugh.

Barnstormers Comedy is a regular feature in the Artrix programme, showcasing the work of three top comedians from the London circuit. The clutch of comics appearing on 19th September include Richard Morton, John Hall and Mary Bourke. Richard has been an established headliner in the UK comedy circuit for some years and performed at festivals all over the world. Phill Jupitus reckons that John Mann is one of the funniest people he knows and Mary Bourke is fast establishing a name for herself as one of the best female stand-ups around.

Now that he’s reached middle age, comedian Sean Hughes has realised that the two sides of his brain are in constant conflict. He reckons there is common sense and mumbo jumbo, and the mumbo jumbo seems to have the upper hand. Artrix audiences on 24th September can expect tales of trekking mountain gorillas, a three-minute musical and a few poems thrown in for good measure

Barnstormers Comedy is at Artrix on Saturday 19th September at 8.00 pm and tickets cost £14.00. Sean Hughes presents Mumbo Jumbo on Thursday 24th September at 8.00 pm and tickets cost £15.
