National outdoor dance company to perform in Bromsgrove

Artix birthday celebrations continue with highly acclaimed drama.

There will be an enthralling and gravity defying display of drama in Bromsgrove on Saturday 13th June when leading UK dance theatre company Motionhouse brings its new outdoor show Captive to Artrix. The show coincides with the opening weekend of the Bromsgrove Festival.

Captive is a story of imprisonment brought to life in thrilling fashion by four dancers in a large cage, and is a breath-taking and highly energetic performance delivered at break neck speed.

The show, which comes to Artrix as part of Motionhouse’s summer tour, has been thrilling audiences in the UK and Europe, and is a rare chance to see world-class entertainment absolutely free of charge. There will be two performances of Captive outside on the Artrix Terrace on Saturday 13th June at 4.00 pm and 6.30 pm. The free dance performances are a continuation of Artrix’ tenth birthday celebrations.

During the day on 13th June, BTEC students from Heart of Worcestershire College will perform their own interpretation of The Panther, the poem which inspired Captive, following a residency with Motionhouse. These free performances will take place on Bromsgrove High Street at 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm.

TC Peppercorn, Artrix’ Learning and Engagement Co-ordinator said: “Working with Motionhouse is a fantastic learning opportunity for performing arts students from HoW College. This will be the second High Street show the students have presented this year and Artrix is delighted to be able to facilitate such partnerships.”

The show has been designed to appeal to both newcomers to dance theatre and existing fans and the show has attracted praise from previous attendees. For more information on Motionhouse visit www.motionhouse.co.uk.
