Chocolate for heroes

Cadbury World giant eggs make Easter egg-stra special for charities.

Cadbury World has hatched a plan to raise money for charity, by creating three unique giant Easter eggs.

The Bournville-based attraction works closely with its chosen charities, which this year includes Teenage Cancer Trust, Blind Children UK and Help for Heroes, who will each receive one of the giant eggs. Personalised for each charity, the eggs are designed to help raise awareness and much needed funds for each of the causes through competitions and auctions.

Standing at an impressive 3ft tall, each egg has been created on site by one of the talented chocolatiers, before being hand-decorated with an intricate and unique design for each charity. Weighing 57kg each and sitting at 1.5ft wide, the show-stopping eggs are made from a combined total of 171kg of chocolate and each took two chocolatiers three days to create.

Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World, said: “Our chocolate creations are always an exciting draw for our visitors, so it’s great to be able to channel that into supporting our chosen charities with our giant eggs. They certainly attract a lot of attention, so we hope they play their part in raising money for such great causes.”

Claire McHenry, national campaigns manager at Help for Heroes, said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to the Cadbury World team for the generous donation of one of the eggs, we were all blown away by the detailing – it’s almost too good to eat! We’ll be offering the egg as a competition prize through our newly launched Facebook app, helping to raise awareness of the on-going work we do here at Help for Heroes.”

Sue Davenport, community fundraising business partner at Blind Children UK, added: “The egg is absolutely amazing and we are so pleased to be able to auction it to raise money to help children and young people with sight loss fulfil their potential in life.”

Cadbury World is set to host its own Easter Eggstravaganza from 30th March to 19th April, complete with entertainment for the whole family and unique Easter eggs available to buy in the World’s Biggest Cadbury Shop. From 3rd–6th April, visitors can also enjoy an Easter egg trail around the attraction and an Easter bonnet competition, ensuring an egg-citing day out for the whole family.
