Charity bag packers help with shop opening

Sixth-formers support Sense.

More than 40 sixth formers at Aldridge School got behind the charity Sense when it opened a new shop in the town.

To support the charity they held a bag pack over two days as part of an awareness-raising week for the charity’s new shop in the town’s shopping arcade. Students gave up their free study time to pack shoppers’ bags in the towns Morrisons store and coined in hundreds of pounds for Sense.

Community fundraising manager Carl Williams visited the school, in Tynings Lane, with thank-you certificates for the students who handed over a cheque for £756. He said; “We are hugely grateful to the support we had from Aldridge School when we opened our new charity shop in the town last month. This money will go a long way to helping deaf blind people in the local area.”

Ruth Elton, head of the sixth form, added: “It was great to see so many of our sixth form students volunteer their free time for such a good cause and to raise so much money.”
