Students to perform classic childrens play.
Musical theatre students from Birmingham Ormiston Academy are bringing faith, trust and pixie dust to the Old Rep Theatre, as they present the classic story of Peter Pan from 4th–7th February.
The year 11 students on the academy’s Musical Theatre pathway will be capturing the childhood charm of Peter Pan as they prepare to perform Sir James Barrie’s timeless tale, which has been transformed into a spectacular musical by George Stiles & Anthony Drewe.
The timeless story of the boy who never grew up is heading to the stage at Birmingham’s Old Rep, following BOA’s takeover of the theatre last year. The deal secured the iconic premises as a platform for talented young students to gain practical experience, both on and off the stage, with the school set to stage a number of other performances there throughout the year. Alongside the talented students, the Old Rep Theatre also plays host to a number of amateur and professional companies, offering a wide variety of productions from plays and musicals on the famous stage.
Located in the heart of Birmingham, BOA is a creative, digital and performing arts academy for talented young people aged between 14 and 18 in the region. The school’s Musical Theatre pathway is one of the most popular course options, enabling students to develop and extend their skills and knowledge in the three disciplines of dance, acting and singing.
Gaynor Cheshire, principal at BOA said: “Peter Pan is our first performance of 2015 at the Old Rep Theatre, with a comprehensive programme scheduled throughout the year. The story really helps to bring the magic of the theatre alive, in a special musical adaptation of the much-loved tale, and it’s something that our Musical Theatre students have really enjoyed working on.”
