The Birmingham Press

21 today – and tomorrow

Dave Woodhall with a reminder of an important event in the city’s history.

As I’m sure you’re aware, we’re coming up to the fortieth anniversary of the Birmingham pub bombs. This topic has been covered on many occasions and our line remains the same – there are people who know more than they’ve ever let on (and yes, we still mean you, Martin McGuinness and Gerry Adams to name the obvious ones).

The fight for justice goes on, and this week you can do a couple of things. The first is to sign up to the Mail’s Thunderclap initiative calling for an inquiry into the bombings. www.thunderclap.it/projects/18612-justice4the21?locale=en

You can also attend the memorial concert taking place at Birmingham Town Hall on Thursday night. The evening will feature Steve Gibbons, Quill, former ELO musicians Dave Scott-Morgan and Martin Smith, Dave Pegg, from Fairport Convention, author R J Ellory’s band Zero Navigator, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, classical musicians from Birmingham Conservatoire and will be compered by Carl Chinn. Tickets are £12 and can be obtained from www.thsh.co.uk with proceeds going to the Birmingham Childrens Hospital and the Acorns Trust.
