Walsall writers’ group heralds winter

New anthology of town’s writing published.

Arriving like a crisp flurry of fresh winter snow, a book of all-new writings by members of Walsall Writers’ Circle is about to land in local bookstores and online.

Winter Festivals is an anthology comprised of articles, poems, short stories and memoirs, ranging from poignant memories of Christmas as a child, to an eye-wateringly funny poem about the Christmas Crib, and from a story about how space travellers might celebrate Christmas on another planet, to a comment on the perils of commercialism.

But there’s so much more in this cool blue yet hot-off-the-press paperback than just Christmas. In its pages the reader will discover Diwali, Halloween, Samhain, Bonfire Night, Saturnalia, Yelda, the Winter Solstice, New Year, Valentine’s Day and even the Chinese Lantern Festival.
Like the members of the Circle, this Anthology is as diverse as the subject itself, and the reader is sure to find something that speaks to them.

Published by Walsall Writers’ Circle itself, the book is the popular group’s first venture into not only local, but national and international publishing, and they have made sure the festive volume is as accessible as possible around the town – and far beyond, as it will also be available around the globe via Amazon.

To get their book off to a great start ahead of the festive season, the Circle is launching Winter Festivals in the town on Saturday 8th November 2014, between 11am-1pm at Southcart Books, 20 Lower Hall Lane, WS1 1RL.

Some of the contributors to Winter Festivals will be on hand at the launch to read and chat about their work, and to sign books – which will be available to buy in paperback form for just £4.99 (an ebook will be available at a later date). Light refreshments will be available.

For more information about Walsall Writers’ Circle, meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month (except August), 7.30pm at Broadway North Centre, Walsall, WS1 2QA. Check out their website: www.walsallwriterscircle.webs.com or email walsall.writerscircle@hotmail.co.uk
