Education leaders to meet in Birmingham.
A Birmingham college will open its doors to principals and senior educational leaders from across the UK for a national conference happening on 17th October to discuss the future of further education.
The learning conference, taking place at the landmark Bournville College, will be focused around online learning and why from next year it will be mandatory in colleges across the country. Open to all educational leaders, as well as teachers and tutors, the event will bring together leading figures, academics and companies from the world of online learning who will contribute towards the interactive day.
Anna-Marie Wood, Assistant Principal for Pre-Vocational Studies at Bournville College, said: “Online learning empowers students to take responsibility for their education. It is always accessible and adds a lot to the overall learning of students. This is why it is crucial that it is integrated into our student’s education.”
The current trend for online learning has been receiving a major push over recent months. In an address to the House of Lords, the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education emphasised the critical need for innovative learning resources in the education of all ages. Furthermore, a recent survey by Ofcom found that 14-15-year-olds are the most digital savvy age range in the UK, emphasising the ease of use for most students.
With 10% of college education needing to be taught via online learning by 2015, with a potential increase to 50% by 2017, the conference will address key questions as well as provide valuable training for principals and head teachers from around the country.
The event is being ran by Suitcase Learning, a Birmingham-based company which creates digital learning resources for schools and colleges. To register your place at the free training conference, call Suitcase Learning on 0121 501 2243 or email daniel@suitcaselearning.com.
