Digital aid for Birmingham businesses

Small and medium-sized businesses across Birmingham are being urged to sign up for grants enabling them to benefit from superfast broadband.

Digital Birmingham is offering connection vouchers worth between £100 and £3,000 to help businesses get connected. The grants can be used for all or part of the capital and equipment costs of getting a better, faster connection – businesses just pay VAT, if applicable, and their monthly line rental to their service provider.

To help business owners take advantage of this scheme, Digital Birmingham is holding a series of events where people can find out how to grow their business in a digital era, meet a wide range of superfast broadband suppliers and sign up to claim their free voucher there and then.

Interested businesses can attend one of the following events, all running from 8am to 11am, to find out more:

Tuesday, 4th November – The Moseley Exchange, 149-153 Alcester Road, Moseley, B13 8JP.
Wednesday, 12th November – National Motorcycle Museum, Coventry Road, Solihull, B92 0EJ.
Thursday, 20th November – Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Broad Street, Birmingham, B1 2EP.
Wednesday, 26th November – The Pavilion, Moor Lane, Perry Barr, B6 7AA.
Wednesday, 3rd December – Sutton Coldfield Town Hall, Upper Clifton Road, Sutton Coldfield, B73 6AB.

Cllr Lisa Trickett, Cabinet Member for a Green, Smart and Sustainable City at Birmingham City Council, said: “Superfast broadband gives Birmingham businesses the speed they need to transform their business, helping them grow and reach new customers and markets. Businesses across the city are already taking advantage of radically improved connection speeds to transform the way they work, so we want to ensure that other small and medium-sized businesses do not miss out on this fantastic opportunity.

“However, these superfast broadband vouchers are available for a limited time only, so I would advise any business owners to take advantage of this offer as soon as possible. Attending one of these events is an excellent starting point for anyone wishing to find out more.”
