Duddeston Viaduct rediscovered by artist

Come along and see part of the city’s heritage.

Artist Rich White is inviting local people to the launch of his publication that rediscovers the abandoned Duddeston Viaduct which runs from Bordesley Station to the corner of Montague Street, Digbeth. The launch tales place on Saturday 15th March from midday-3pm at the A3 project space on Bowyer St, Digbeth.

Over the past few months sculptor Rich White has been investigating the abandoned Duddeston Viaduct by walking its route at street level with local architects, historians, photographers and city planners.

The conversations have informed the contents of a unique, free publication, containing the histories of the Viaduct, a map highlighting areas of interest and significance, activities, and ideas about the potential of the structure.

To mark the launch of the publication a display of information about the project will be on show at A3 Project Space where people can pick up a free copy of the publication and take a special walk of the route at street level with the artist and contributors.

12pm – Launch

A3 Project Space will be transformed into a walk-through of the publication and refreshments will be served

2pm – Group Walk

Following the route of the Duddeston Viaduct Rich will be joined by some of the people who have walked the route with him during his research, each offering their insights into the past and the future of this remarkable structure

Rich White’s Viaduct is part of the You Are Here series of art projects by A3 Project Space who are commissioning artists to make new works about Digbeth and Bordesley.
