Sora Cool Jawayi Fool

Performed in Punjabi, this tale of newly-married life will strike a chord.

Saturday 19th October sees the return of the highly-acclaimed Matribhoomi Theatre to the Drum for another sensational Punjabiwood comedy exploring the blessings, and curses, of married family life.

Written by Gurdip Kaur Chaudhary (Kaki) and directed by Jitender Singh (Jeet), stars of Channel 4’s reality documentary The Family, Sora Cool Jawayi Fool  tells the story of Laddoo Singh, a fun-loving, innocent, and hardworking man who dreams about marriage. He is in love with a girl, Jalebi Kaur, who loves him just the same. They sing and dance together like Indian film actors as they look forward to their beautiful and happy days ahead – but Jalebi’s father, ex-army officer Habshi Singh, plans to break all their dreams.

After all this struggle, when Laddoo finally marries his love Jalebi, he doesn’t only get the love of his life, but also a Hitler-type father-in- law, who moves in with them and makes Ladoo’s life a living hell.
