Making learning as easy as A, B, C

Get help for your employees while helping a worthy cause.

Businesses across the West Midlands looking to improve the skills of their staff but worried about blowing their training budget could be eligible for free English and maths training.

Power-Train specialise in providing maths and English training to Asian, African and Eastern European workers. Everyone who successfully completes a course receives a City and Guilds certificate. The training, which takes between four and six months to complete, is delivered to a range of levels and focuses on the things that people use every day at home and work, such as calculating the best deal or writing notes and emails.

Paul Thompson of Power-Train said: “The training is totally flexible; we can come into the workplace and deliver two-hour workshops with groups of people, or equally it can be done remotely on their computer, whatever works for the learner and their employer.”

“We train a broad range of people – at the very basic level we are helping people to spell and follow simple instructions, whereas at the advanced level we are training people to write reports and present them to their management team. The advanced qualification is actually recognised by univeristies!”

In addition to providing a brilliant training opportunity for businesses, for every person who completes the course a donation of £50 will be made to the national charity Caudwell Children’s Keep the Dream Alive appeal.

The appeal was launched to raise money for the charity’s Destination Dreams project where they take 25 children living with life threatening conditions to Florida, but this year the trip is under threat due to lack of funds.

To date over 180 families have enjoyed the getaway, nearly a third of whom have been from the West Midlands,  and the charity need to raise £250,000 to ensure that  others continue to enjoy what may be the only family holiday they get to have.

Businesses or individuals wishing to find out more about the training should call 01773 711 275 and quote ‘Caudwell Children Maths and English Challenge’.
