Fierce festival line-up finalised

New York alternative rap sensation Cakes da Killa to perform.

Fierce Festival, which is taking place in Birmingham from 4th-6th October, has announced a further additions to its line–up. Cakes da Killa, rising star of the New York hip hop scene, will perform at Club PST on the second night of the festival which is now in its fifteenth year.

Part of a growing band of rappers breaking through the notorious homophobia of the hip hop world with lyrics covering everything from sex to shopping sprees, Cakes is winning international attention for his fresh new brand of rap. He’ll be joined for the late night club night Club Fierce: XXX by Birmingham-born MC RoxXxan, who has been tipped by the likes of BBC Radio 1xtra and the Guardian.

Laura McDermott, Fierce Artistic Director, said: “Cakes da Killa is one of the big rising stars of the New York scene, as RoxXan is here. It feels that something exciting is happening in hip hop right now; to see these two on stage together will be a great moment.”

The gig on Saturday 5th October marks the return of Club Fierce, always one of the Festival’s most popular events. The night kicks off with Club Fierce: Eat My Noise at AE Harris, with performances from Wolf in the Winter Collective, Bob Parks, Sarah Jane Norman and Eat My Noise.

Live music continues through to Sunday, when Fierce Festival culminates in a late-night concert from electronica star Nicolas Jaar, accompanied by New York’s legendary Joshua Light Show – the pyschedelic liquid-light visual outfit who have worked with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, the Doors and Janis Joplin.
