Business workshops offered by university

Help for small businesses.

A series of one-day workshops designed specifically for small businesses in the region have been developed by the University of Wolverhampton. The University, working in partnership with the Shropshire based procurement initiative COGS, have created the workshops with the aim of providing expert knowledge for firms in the local area.

The workshops will cover essential topics including finance, employing staff and marketing, as well as advice on using social media, tendering and lean office techniques. The first, to be held on 18th September, will provide a grounding in how social media can effectively give a business a high profile at a global level with minimal cost.

Delegates will be guided through setting-up social media accounts and given an overview of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google+ amongst others. Other topics covered will include the importance of social media policies within the workplace.

Marc Fleetham, Director of the Business Solutions at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The University is delighted to be working with COGS on an initiative designed to help smaller businesses gain knowledge in areas they find challenging. This is a unique opportunity to access expert knowledge at a very reasonable cost and I’d urge all businesses in the region to take advantage of this offer.”

Wworkshops can be booked individually at £50 each, or as a series at a cost of £200 for six full-day sessions.
