Noumoucounda Cissoko live at The Kitchen Garden

Direct from Dakar and hailed the ‘Jimi Hendrix of Africa’, Noumoucanda Cissoko explores the explosive possibilities of the kora.

Noumoucounda Cissoko

Undertaking his debut UK tour Cissoko is accompanied here by Ramon Goose (guitar) and Khalifa Conte (percussion). Graced with a voice to die for, he moves effortlessly between blues, jazz and rock, laced with traditional and Senegalese pop, Mbalax, and hip-hop.

He’s collaborated with Youssou Ndour, Ernest Ranglin, Alpha Blondy, Baaba Maal, Omar Pene, Red Rat, Princess Erika, Lara Fabian and MC Solaar. In the hands of Noumoucounda Cissoko the Kora takes on a life of its own to represent the new and dynamic pop scene in Dakar. Working on the Dakar hip-hop scene with Awadi Didier, and Positive Black Soul/PBS he has always worked towards addressing social issues in his songs, and the new album Falings is no exception. He is quite simply unmissable!
