Harborne volunteer heads for Liberia

Birmingham based Save the Children volunteer, Emily Davies, will this week be flying out to Liberia, West Africa, to see how some of the money the charity has raised is being used to save lives.

Leaving tomorrow, 29th June, Emily, pictured in the centre of the bottom row, will be joining fellow volunteers to see the work that will benefit from Save the Children’s new major campaign launch in July which aims to raise £500,00 to build six new health facilities in what is considered to be one of the worlds poorest countries.

Save the Children work in 120 countries worldwide. They fight for children’s rights and help them achieve their full potential and it’s this inspiration Emily will draw upon to focus her efforts on giving talks about the visit on her return to raise awareness and funds for the problems people living and working in Liberia face.

Emily is one of the founders of the fundraising group in Birmingham and holds regular get-togethers, campaigning and fundraising events along with other members of the community.

Local groups who would like to book a free talk for later in the year can telephone Emily on 07598 038911.
