10×10: The Journey Home

Ten short plays by ten new playwrights studying at Birmingham University.

The University of Birmingham’s MRes Playwriting course is, in short, the most prestigious playwriting degree in the country.

Founded by David Edgar and boasting alumni such as Sarah Kane, the Birmingham MRes pulls together some of the best new playwrights from the UK and abroad. Together they study the theory and craft of writing plays, right here in Birmingham.

Now, in a new initiative to bring their writing out into the professional arena, this year’s crop bring ten – yes 10! – exciting new plays to the Old Joint Stock. What’s more, you can see them all on one night for just £5.

First seen at the University of Birmingham’s Cultural Festival 2013, 10×10 comprises ten, ten-minute plays by ten of the hottest new writers, performed by a professional company assembled especially for the event.
