What’s on in Bilston

Open sessions, Alan Merrill and the Arrows, David Bowie tribute Jean Genie and….. professional wrestling!

Tonight – Tuesday – there’s the regular Sam Draisley sessions, featuring acoustic music from around the Midlands. Anyone can get up and have a go and admission’s free.

Thursday provides a rare chance to catch one of the unsung heroes of the seventies, when Alan Merrill & the Arrows are at the Robin. The band had a string of hits on Mickie Most’s RAK label and created a unique distinction of sorts when they managed to have two TV weekly series without releasing anything during the run of either show thanks to a fall-out with their record company. They were a bit luckier when their song I Love Rock’n’Roll was covered to worldwide fame by Joan Jett.  Tickets £10

On Friday there’s a change from the usual Robin fare with a night of professional wrestling featuring amongst others the rising star of the US-based Ring of Honour Cameron Matthews and a former doyen of ITV’s World of Sport during the sport’s glory days, Psycho Shane Stevens. Tickets £6

Saturday sees the David Bowie tribute Jean Genie.  Tickets £12

On Sunday the Beautiful Sound provide a tribute to the Beautiful South. Tickets £9
