The local orchestra Midland Sinfonia returns to Artrix on Saturday, February 2nd with a programme of music by Haydn, Mozart, Wagner and Hummel.
Haydn’s 1772 Symphony No.45 – Farewell – was composed so that each musician would leave the stage one by one. Mozart’s Symphony No.33 in B Flat Major was completed some seven years after Haydn’s symphony.
Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll was composed a century later as a birthday present for his wife Cosina. And the final piece – Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto – was Haydn’s successor’s first piece for the Court.
The performance starts at 7.30.p.m and tickets, at £16 (£5 for Students, schoolchildren free when accompanied by an adult), are available from the Box Office on 01527-577330, or you can book online at www.artrix.co.uk
