Direct from London’s West End, the smash hit Ike and Tina Turner musical Soul Sister is making its way to Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre from Mon 29 Oct to Sat 3 Nov to tell the passionate and heartbreaking story of this legendary musical duo.
Featuring all the classic songs including Simply the Best, What’s Love Got to Do With It, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and River Deep Mountain High, this acclaimed musical follows the highs and lows of Ike and Tina Turner as their careers blossomed and their marriage crumbled.
The role of Tina Turner will be played by Emi Wokoma, who has attracted huge critical and public acclaim since the show launched on London’s West End. Her previous stage credits include Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Little Shop of Horrors at Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Trevor Nunn’s Porgy and Bess at the Savoy. Chris Tummings will star alongside her as Ike Turner.
Although often remembered for the violence, Ike and Tina Turner’s life was also a love story about two people who, against all the odds, achieved great things. Soul Sister is their romantic tragedy, brought to life on stage.
Using projection and film on stage, as well as innovative choreography and flamboyant stage costumes, the show plots Tina Turner’s rising fame throughout the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s.
Tickets for Soul Sister are available now from the box office on 024 7655 3055 priced from £21.25 to £31.25 or via www.belgrade.co.uk where cheaper tickets are available.
