There’s a Bank Holiday treat for soul fans at the Robin 2.
It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good, and the horrible weather this summer is one of the factors in the cancellation of the Rhythm festival, due to be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
However, as far as Midlands music fans are concerned, the upside of this news is that Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August, sees the Robin 2 hosting one of what is now only two UK dates for soul and blues legend Booker T Jones. Probably the most famous Hammond player in history, Booker T would be an all-time great purely for his session work on the Stax label, when he played with such giants as Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett and Albert King. Add the words ‘& the MGs’ and every superlative that’s been thrown his way is more than justified.
So if you want to hear one of the greatest soul musicians of all time playing a rare club date, the Robin 2 on Monday 24th August is the place to be.
Tickets are £18.50 and available from www.therobin.co.uk or by calling 01902 401211
