The pupils of Uffculme School in south Birmingham had something to celebrate this week – a juicy £530 cheque donated by Waitrose.
Uffculme School in Queensbridge Road caters for children aged between three and fourteen with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Originally founded as an “open air school” for children with TB, it is celebrating its centenary this year.
Next year, the school is moving from its present site to new premises in nearby Chamberlain House, next to Highbury Hall in Yew Tree Road.
Because of the high demand for places at the school, staff and governors are hoping the move will provide more places.
To mark the centenary, Uffculme is holding a garden party in the school grounds on Saturday, July 7, 1.30-4pm.
