Prog rock, blues and an interesting festival.
Tonight sees the return of a Robin favourite, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band. The days of chart success and Top of the Pops appearances may be gone, but the acceptable face of prog pop still know how to put on a good live show. Support is an acoustic solo set from blues faithful Ian Parker. Tickets £18.50
On Wednesday, folk/prog/pop veterans Stackridge are on stage. More than forty years since they were the first act ever to appear at the Glastonbury Festival, they’re still touring regularly. Tickets £12.50
Another Robin regular, blues guitarist Larry Miller, performs on Thursday. Heavily influenced by old school blues rockers such as Rory Gallagher and Johnny Winter, Larry has performed around Europe, working with such names as Winter and Walter Trout, and his latest album on The Edge is released this month. Tickets £11
Over the weekend the Robin plays host to the Z Rock 2012 festival. Saturday features Paul Sabu, Prophet, Arabia, Legion, Shakra, Redrum and Stampede (Tickets £45) while on Sunday Michael Borman, Dynazty, Newman, Dercole, Baibang, Hush, Wildside Riot, Summers and Scream Arena will be performing alongside a second show from Paul Sabu (Tickets £35).
