New Birmingham City Council Cabinet announced

Birmingham Council Leader Elect Sir Albert Bore has announced his cabinet to colleagues in the city council Labour group. The nominations will be put before the City Council AGM on 22nd May when Labour formally takes office.

Birmingham City Council HouseCouncillor Tahir Ali will be cabinet member for Development, Jobs and Skills with responsibility for translating the vision to make Birmingham the enterprise capital of Britain.

Councillor Steve Bedser  will be cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing – social care, public health and the support of vulnerable adults.

Councillor John Cotton will be cabinet member for Social Cohesion and Equalities – promoting the services to reduce deprivation across the city.

Councillor Brigid Jones will be cabinet member for Children and Family Services – responsible for children’s care and education services.

Councillor James McKay will be cabinet member for Green, Safe and Smart City.

Councillor Stewart Stacy will be cabinet member for Commissioning, Contracting and Improvement – responsible for the introduction of the Living Wage in the city as part of a Business Charter for Social Responsibility.

Sir Albert Bore has been confirmed Leader and Councillor Ian Ward as Deputy Leader.
