On Cloud Nine

Terry Wills is a VERY happy Baggie – still!

Terry WillsWOW. Fervent wish finally granted – and how!

Sunderland sent packing on the back of a 4-0 hammering and the air of gloom normally found on the faces of Albion fans at the final whistle had been replaced by the sight of sheer delight.

We’d seen a tremendous all round display. A solid defence marshalled by Jonas Olsson, a creative midfield and strikers only too eager to carry on where they’d left off at Molineux. Especially Peter Odemwingie.

Post match, Roy Hodgson was literally beaming in interviews with the media. “We can start looking at the teams above us instead of those below us in the table”  And wasn’t that a delight to hear!

Why the difference, and can this upsurge in form be maintained?

Certainly Chelsea, although not as dominating as they have been over the past few seasons, will prove to be a tougher nut to crack but with Albion, now full of confidence, the chance to avenge a non-stop run of Greed League Pensioner defeats can surely never be better?

Finally, how about the glowing remarks by the Saturday/Sunday television pundits? Did I really hear the likes of Alan Hansen, Trevor Francis, Chris Kamara, plus others, expressing such extreme views? “West Brom were Superb,” “They played tremendous football,” “Absolutely brilliant”

Surely I’d woken from a deep sleep in which I’d dreamt Albion had scored their ninth goal in just two games? But no, it had been a reality, and here’s hoping the remaining 12 games can see more displays of this nature. Unrealistic, I appreciate, but if not at least we can saviour this performance before moving on to Old Trafford to meet a currently Wayne Rooney-inspired Manchester United who’ll be desperate to maintain their challenge to their friends and neighbours down the road.

Forecast for Saturday? Depends which Albion side turn up, so in common with every other Albion supporter, I just hope I can wake up on Sunday thinking I’d dreamt them take points off a team challenging for a top four Greed League finishing spot.

Come on you Baggies.
