Mendelssohn wrote this great work specifically for a Birmingham Festival in 1846, and there will be another performance on Saturday March 10th, 2012, in the very fine Adrian Boult Hall at Birmingham Conservatoire, opposite the Town Hall where that first performance was given.

The major role of Elijah is taken by a fine young Ugandan singer, Terence Ayebare, supported by soloists Claire Wild, Pamela Davies, Robert Gardiner, and Julie Whiting.  There will be a full professional orchestra and the 80 singers of Birmingham Choral Union, conducted by Colin Baines.

The performance starts at 7.30 pm, and tickets are £16 (concessions £15).
