You’re getting sacked in…

Terry Wills is a VERY happy Baggie.

Well, well, well, well, and for good measure a final well – and it could and should have been an even more devastating defeat for the old gold and black persuasion at Molineux as the Baggies handed out a humiliating 5-1 hammering.

It was a defeat that saw many of them trooping home early while Albion supporters finally left, rubbing their eyes, expecting to wake up to discover they’d experienced a living dream. Make no mistake the Baggies were superior by far, and if Wayne Hennessey hadn’t been on top form a double figure defeat would have been even worse for the beleaguered Mick McCarthy, who ultimately discovered that losing to his near neighbours in such a fashion meant that on Monday morning he’d be clearing out his desk to put himself on the list of managers looking for a new job.

Yet when in the last minute of the first-half Wolves grabbed an equaliser I bet I wasn’t alone in wondering if it could be the turning point that would see them somehow picking up a result? Mercifully it wasn’t to be and despite a short spell that saw Ben Foster forced into action, a hat-trick from Peter Odemwingie, a sparkling display from Jonas Olsson, plus worthy contributions from every other player, meant there was only to be one winner.

The three points were a Godsend (okay, a Roy Hodgson prayer answered) so providing our awful home form can be reversed, the security of knowing they’ll be playing in the Greed League next season will be virtually assured…but as it’s Albion!…?

Naturally the question as to who will be England’s next manager has seen Hodgson’ name in the frame but in common with the overwhelming majority of the media, players, and supporters, I personally can’t see it happening. Can anyone?

No game this week due to it being FA Cup fifth round day so another week to see if Shane Long can take another step towards regaining full fitness. If he can then our Head Coach will face welcoming problems. Odemwingie or Long to play alongside the revitalised Marc Antoine Fortune in a 4-4-2 formation,  4-5-1 formation, or any other combination that brings out the best in all of his squad members, which based on their displays at Molineux was most encouraging.

All for this week – the first of two successive home games will see Chelsea arriving to pick up their usual three points on offer, but the prospects of that I’ll leave until next week.

Well done Albion.

Come on you Baggies.
