What’s on at Birmingham’s Town and Symphony halls

The latest from two city centre venues.

Birmingham Town Hall Associate Artists, the BBC Big Band, return for a special concert accompanied by the Italian soul and RnB vocalist Mario Biondi and paying homage to one of the Great American Songbook contributors, Harold Arlen on 20th April. Tickets £19.50/£17/13.50, available from 20th January.

The BBC Big Band also appears at the Town Hall on 25th May presenting Fever – the Music of Peggy lee. Songs written and performed by the popular US jazz star get the Big Band treatment in this concert recorded for BBC Radio 2’s Big Band special. Tickets £19.50/£17/13.50, available from 20th January.

Ramin Karimloo

Young West End star Ramin Karimloo, fresh from receiving global acclaim for his role in The Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary concerts, returns to Symphony Hall on 17th May. Tickets £37.50/£32.50/£25, on sale now.

A cast of past principal performers from the West End production of Les Miserables, perform classic songs from musicals such as Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia, Blood Brothers and more in beyond the Barricade, at Birmingham Town Hall on 18th September. Tickets £19.50, on sale now.

Gervase Phinn

The comic writer, author and raconteur Gervase Phinn shares stories, anecdotes, poems and readings around the theme of Christmas in the warm surroundings of Birmingham Town Hall on 16th December. Tickets £16.50, available from 20th January.

Million-selling comedian, singer and former coal miner Max Boyce – one of the most successful Welsh entertainers of all time – lands at Birmingham Town Hall on tour on 18th February. Tickets £25, on sale now.

The David Hasselhoff show due to have taken place at Symphony Hall on 23rd February has been cancelled due to touring logistics problems. Tickets can be exchanged for entry to the London show which will still take place. Meanwhile Paul Keene, Director of Programming at the two venues, has been honoured by the Association of British Orchestras (ABO) and Rhinegold Publishing as their first ever Concert Hall Manager of the Year.
