What’s on at the Robin

There’s a definite local flavour to this week in Bilston.

Monday sees the second semi-final of the Robin2/M2 Studios Live Band of the Year competition. Acts confirmed so far include The Limelight and Charles Dexter Ward. Tickets £4

On Tuesday highly-rated Buddy Whittington is at the Robin. Described by John Mayall as ‘possibly the greatest Bluesbreaker of all’ (from a list that includes Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor), Buddy’s new album Six String Svengali has received rave reviews and his band have toured Europe extensively. Tickets £13.50

Wednesday sees the return of local legends Magnum, a band who played arenas throughout Europe in their glory years but always seemed on the verge of being even bigger. They’ve a new album out called Evolution, compiling their work over the past decade. Tickets £18.50

Another local hero, prog drummer Carl Palmer, will be performing with his band on Thursday, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the classic Emerson Lake & album Pictures at an Exhibition. Tickets £15

Queen tribute Flash

Friday sees the Queen tribute Flash. Tickets £10

On Saturday there’s another tribute, the George Michael Experience. Tickets £12

Sunday sees Panic Room, an alt-rock spin-off from the highly-regarded Mostly Autumn, featuring the Classic Rock best female vocalist of 2010 Ann-Marie Helder. Tickets £10.
