Ambulance Service Advice to Young People

West Midlands Ambulance Service have issued a warning to parents and children following a spate of traffic incidents.

A serious road traffic collision involving a teenager in Kingstanding this morning was the sixth serious road traffic collision involving a child or young adult during the past 24 hours and a spokesman for WMAS said, “As schools and colleges return for a new academic year, parents and children are being urged by West Midlands Ambulance Service to take heed of key road safety messages, and drivers are also advised to exercise extreme caution in the vicinity of schools and colleges.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to College Road, Kingstanding at approximately 8.20am, when crews dealt with a 17 year old who had been in collision with a car. The teenager was immobilised using a neck collar and placed on a spinal board before being conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and specialist treatment on serious pelvic and head injuries.
